10 Best European Cities for Cycling in 2025 (And the Best Time to Visit Each One)
Momentum Magazine recently published an article ranking the 10 best cities for cycling in Europe. The top 10 cities include:
- Paris, France
- Munich, Germany
- Helsinki, Finland
- Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Strasbourg, France
- Frankfort, Germany
- Lyon, France
- Stockholm, Sweden
- Ghent, Belgium
- Lille, France
Paris’ ranking as the best European city for cycling (and by extension the best cycling city in the world?) is supported by the number of people riding bikes in the city, residents and tourists alike. Paris’ status is facilitated by an integrated active transportation network. This includes associated infrastructure, particularly an extensive and connected network of protected and separated bicycle lanes and shared use paths.
I had the chance to bike around Paris during recent travels to France. This experience is documented in the June 2025 adventurECO blog posts, Paris by Bicycle and La Coulée Verte.
